About WorldMakers ALC

WorldMakers ALC is an Agile Learning Center (ALC) located at 3717 Murphy School Road, Durham, NC 27705. It is a joyful, democratic environment that supports self-directed, curiosity-driven learning for students. The center offers education services and operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The learning approach is based on intentional culture creation, the use of Agile Learning Tools, cycles of intention, creation, reflection, and sharing, consent in collaboration and direct democracy, age mixing, and unlimited playful work/workful play.

 

The center focuses on providing relevant, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences, real-world experiences, place-based learning, and emergent curricula. The adults at the center serve as facilitators of young people's learning and offer various offerings and communal and personal resolutions. The approach also emphasizes social-emotional learning.
